At Pete’s Big Bite, we know that the classics can’t be beaten. That’s why we’re proud to offer a blast from the past with a 1950’s casual dining experience that can’t be beaten.
The only way to do it is in a clean fun atmosphere serving up outstanding food and amazing customer service.
The Branoff’s restaurant business has been passed down from generations. Their legacy for serving “the best” in quality food began in 1952, when Daniel Branoff (Pete’s Father) immigrated from Macedonia with only a couple of dollars to his name. As a dedicated and determined father to provide for his 6 children and wife, coupled with his passion for food, Daniel landed his first job as a cook in a local restaurant, where he managed to save enough money to open in the mid 1950’s his first restaurant located in the heart of Toronto on Danforth Avenue called Browns Grill! The restaurant was a huge success and became “the place” to dine on the Danforth and for families to spend quality time together.
Over the course of the next 50 plus years, the Branoff’s owned and operated several successful food establishments, including the famous Summerfields and Monticello, both located in Scarborough. Having worked his whole life in the restaurant business, coupled with his own food passion and vision, in 2006 the Branoff restaurant legacy continued, with Pete opening Pete’s Big Bite in Whitby with his son Daniel named after his father! Pete’s Big Bite, not only serves the best quality burgers in Durham Region, but customers will drive hours outside of the Region to get the chance to put their taste buds into any one of their ”famous” signature burgers, or a philly cheese steak, while being washed down with “real” milkshakes, the way they used to be made in the 1950’s! Once people get a taste, they are hooked!
Pete and his son Daniel are now taking the name to the next level and franchising the business throughout the province of Ontario so many other people get to enjoy the food, experience and fun Pete’s Big Bite has to offer.
